The relationship of teacher and learner constitutes the core of education. The search for new teaching approaches and methods dealing with the relationship between teacher and learner has always been one of the main issues in this area. The use of scaffolding has brought a new insight to the status of teacher and learner on how to organize, develop and practice the material in order to make learners reach their goal. In the lights of linguistic developments, as contextual learning was considered to be a need for language acquisition, the use of stories and storytelling has been an effective teaching method widely used in foreign language teaching.Based on the question “Is it possible to use these two methods together in foreign language teaching?”, this paper examines the concepts of storytelling and scaffolding as teaching methods in foreign language teaching. Through examples and references, it is argued that these methods suggest arguments completing one another. and an example for teaching Turkish as a foreign language is presented through the use of these methods together.
