The article analyzes the definitions of domestic and foreign scientists to the concept of developing leadership qualities of university students using social design technology, the author interpreted this concept in his own way, clarified its definition. As a result of the analysis of pedagogical, psychological, methodological literature on the research topic, the experience of university teachers and the work of secondary school teachers, a pedagogical model for the development of leadership qualities of university students using social design technology has been created. Studying the theoretical material, the author clarified the concepts of "leadership", "development of students' leadership qualities", "social design of the leadership development process", "social design technologies". The article shows that the technology of social design has been considered and defined by many researchers. Social design is the process of creating an activity by a person, group or organization aimed at improving the social environment and the quality of life of people (according to V. A. Lukov). The author agrees with these opinions of the scientist. The article develops a methodology for developing the leadership qualities of university students using social design technology. A special course is offered. The results of the pedagogical experiment are also presented, qualitative and quantitative processing is performed.
