The article is devoted to the consideration of topical issues of improving the subject competencies of students studying under the educational program chemistry and chemical biology, through exercises on the organic chemistry of aliphatic compounds. The paper establishes the influence on the level of academic achievement of bachelors of chemistry and biology at the university through various exercises prepared on the organic chemistry of aliphatic compounds. It is proved that various exercises in the formation of an educated, literate personality are of great importance for improving subject competencies in the educational process. To determine the level of interest and selfdevelopment ability in the subject of Chemistry, a survey of students was conducted, the question of their innovative pedagogical technologies, the essence of the use of exercises and reports and the process of their development were considered. Typical errors in the nomenclature of Dien have been identified. In the analysis of teaching students theoretical knowledge using tasks and exercises, test tasks prepared using the quizizz digital technology program were used. At the end of the lesson, the traffic light method was used for feedback. In the process of teaching chemistry, one can see that teaching using methods of rational preparation of tasks and exercises increases the efficiency and quality of the educational process, is a key factor in the development of professional competencies of future chemistry teachers.
